Privacy policy
Who we are. Sift is made by MICHAŁ WŁOSIK EFC, ul. Północna 16/5, 54-105 Wrocław, Poland, NIP (tax ID) 8942747708 ("we"). Contact: hello@siftphotos.pro or our contact page.
The short version. Sift runs on your computer (as a Windows app or a Chrome extension). We never receive your photos, your Google sign-in, your email address, or anything about your library.
What stays on your PC
- Your Google sign-in. You sign in on Google's own page inside Sift's window. Your password goes to Google only. Google's sign-in cookies are stored on your PC by Windows' web view, as in any browser.
- Library details and thumbnails. Sift keeps a local copy of your library list, photo details, thumbnails and settings so it opens quickly. It's stored in
%APPDATA%\Siftand%LOCALAPPDATA%\Sift. Settings → "Forget everything on this PC" deletes it. - Backups. Files you back up go to the folder you choose.
Sift talks to Google Photos directly from your PC, on your behalf, only when you use it. Google's own privacy policy covers what Google does with that.
What we receive
- Purchases. Payments are handled by Polar (polar.sh), our merchant of record. Polar collects your name, email, billing country and payment details to process the sale, send your licence key and handle tax. See Polar's privacy policy. We receive your name, email, country and order details from Polar.
- Licence checks. Sift Pro is linked to a Google account. When you activate it, and about once a day after that, Sift sends your licence key and a one-way fingerprint of your Google account's email (a SHA-256 hash: it can't be turned back into the address) to Sift's licence check, hosted on Supabase in the EU, which confirms the key with Polar. We store the fingerprint, a scrambled form of the key and the activation ID, so the same account keeps its slot. Nothing about your photos is sent. Settings → Sift Pro → Deactivate removes the account's record.
- AI (Chrome extension). Ask Sift and the junk finder use the AI built into Chrome, on your computer. Nothing is sent to us.
We don't use analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking in Sift.
Your rights
Under GDPR you can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you (your purchase record), or ask us to correct or delete it, at hello@siftphotos.pro or through our contact page. You can complain to the Polish data protection authority (UODO, uodo.gov.pl).
